What happens if a mineral oil is mixed with a synthetic one?

Despite the many urban legends that you can read online, you can mix oils without problems. I mean, if we have a mineral oil in the engine, we can fill it with a semi-synthetic, a synthetic or other mineral oil. The urban legend that mixing different oils produces problems in the car, in fact is that... just an urban legend.

Really, what really happens is that when oils are mixed, the better quality oil loses quality when is mixed with one of inferior quality. In any case it is important to know that different oils (SAE and type) can be mixed without problems.
